Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly planning big move to mend damaged reputation

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly considering a bold move to reshape their public image amid mounting media scrutiny and ongoing reputational challenges: adoption. According to Closer Magazine, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are seriously exploring the idea of expanding their family through adoption, a step insiders claim could serve both personal and public purposes.

The couple, who already share two children, Archie and Lilibet, have long been open to the idea of adoption. But sources now suggest the decision may be gaining urgency as Harry and Meghan face intensified criticism from the press and a cooling of their popularity in the public eye.

“Meghan feels as though adoption is something that could drastically help repair her and Harry’s tarnished images and help save them in the public eye,” a source told Closer. “Obviously there are many more important considerations they need to weigh up, but it’s another factor that could cement their decision, especially given the fact that their royal currency is currently hanging in the balance.”

The insider added, “A third child could be the pivotal turning point and help them secure their future in Hollywood and on a global platform.”

In recent months, Meghan has re-entered the spotlight with a flurry of projects. She launched a lifestyle brand, As Ever, and debuted a new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, along with a 2025 podcast. While these ventures have found a loyal fan base, critics argue they haven’t significantly improved the couple’s public perception.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry has faced his own wave of controversy, particularly following his resignation from his charity, Sentebale. Reports claim Harry clashed with the chair of the board, Dr. Sophie Chandauka, who allegedly accused him of bullying—an accusation that has further complicated his public image.

For the Sussexes, who stepped away from royal duties in 2020, rebuilding their global brand has proven to be a delicate balancing act. The couple has frequently found themselves the subject of negative headlines on both sides of the Atlantic, often walking a tightrope between privacy and publicity.

The source emphasized that their motivation for adoption is ultimately rooted in the desire to provide a child with “love and a home,” but acknowledged that it could also serve as a form of positive press during a critical time.

Whether or not the couple proceeds with adoption, the conversation marks a significant chapter in their evolving efforts to define their legacy beyond royal life.
