Trump Demands Courts Punish Media and Democrats Over MS-13 Deportation Drama

Donald Trump on Sunday demanded that Democrats and members of the media be “held responsible” by the courts for defending a man he claims is a violent criminal who was deported from the U.S.

The former president was reacting to growing backlash over the case of Kilmar Ábrego García, a Maryland resident who was allegedly deported to El Salvador in error. His case has drawn sympathy and public concern, particularly from Democrats and media outlets who suggest the removal may have been a mistake.

Trump, however, dismissed those concerns in a series of heated remarks, labeling García as a dangerous individual with gang ties. “Radical Lunatic Democrats and their Comrades in the Fake News Media are falsely making Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia out to be a very sweet and innocent person, which is a total, blatant, and dangerous LIE,” he said.

He went on to claim that García “has been found by two separate Courts to be a member of the violent, killer gang MS-13, was in our Country illegally, and is under a Deportation Order.”

Earlier in the day, Trump had already lashed out at business leaders who criticized his tariff policies. But he quickly turned his attention to the García case, using it to again accuse liberals and the press of putting criminals before American safety, as he told The New York Times.

“It is despicable and un-American for Liberals and the Mainstream Media to hate our Country so much, and be obsessed with protecting criminals, instead of working to keep our Border, streets, and families safe,” Trump said.

His comments suggest he sees political advantage in reigniting tough-on-crime rhetoric, particularly around immigration and border security, two of his hallmark issues. He also used the opportunity to double down on his signature campaign slogan.

“Those lying to the American People on behalf of violent criminals have to be held responsible by the Agencies and the Courts. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” he concluded.

The remarks have already sparked sharp reactions online and are likely to inflame tensions further as the election cycle heats up. Trump’s critics argue that his claims are inflammatory and not backed by independent verification of García’s gang affiliation, while supporters say he is simply calling out the failure of current immigration enforcement.
