In a fiery exchange that lit up headlines, President Donald Trump launched a brutal attack on Joe Biden during a joint press conference with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni — declaring the former president Jimmy Carter could “die a happy man” now that Biden has officially taken his spot as the worst president in U.S. history.
While addressing reporters at the White House, Trump didn’t hold back. “And then you had like the last administration (Joe Biden’s), the only thing they were good at was cheating in elections,” Trump said, as reported by Fox News.
Doubling down, Trump delivered the zinger of the day: “Worse than Jimmy Carter. Jimmy Carter died a happy man. You know why? Because he wasn’t the worst. President Joe Biden was.”
Trump’s blistering comments come amid ongoing scrutiny over Biden’s mental fitness. A new book titled Uncharted: How Trump Beat Biden, Harris, and the Odds in the Wildest Campaign in History, released April 8, claims Biden’s inner circle isolated him and allowed his cognitive health to decline, with one aide saying his faculties began to “atrophy.”
Biden, however, pushed back earlier this week during a disability rights conference in Chicago, saying, “Fewer than 100 days, this administration has done so much damage and so much destruction. It’s kind of breathtaking, it could happen that soon.”

Despite the political jabs, Trump also touched on trade during the press conference, stating that a U.S.-EU deal is all but guaranteed. “There will be a trade deal, 100%… it’ll be a fair deal,” he told reporters, referencing his decision to pause and reduce tariffs from 20% to 10% to allow negotiations to continue.
Online reactions to Trump’s Carter-Biden comparison came quickly. “Saying that Carter was a better president than Biden is not really a compliment, but it is true,” one reader commented. Another added, “Jimmy Carter was a decent and honorable man. Joe Biden has never been either.”
Another user wrote, “He’s absolutely right. Biden is an absolute disgrace even as a person, and he’s ALWAYS been, let alone ‘president’.” As the 2024 election battle heats up, Trump’s scorching remarks and Biden’s strained rebuttals suggest this political fight is only just getting started.
