Donald Trump has once again taken aim at CBS, this time over a recent “60 Minutes” episode that featured segments on Ukraine and Greenland. Posting on his Truth Social platform, Trump slammed the network and its parent company, Paramount, calling for “maximum fines and punishment” and claiming the broadcaster should lose its license altogether.
He accused “60 Minutes” of pushing political agendas rather than journalism, saying, “They are not a ‘News Show,’ but a dishonest Political Operative simply disguised as ‘News,’ and must be responsible for what they have done, and are doing.” He also urged FCC Chair Brendan Carr, a Trump appointee, to impose “substantial” penalties, branding the broadcast “unlawful and illegal”, reported HuffPost.

Trump’s outrage was partly aimed at a past interview the programme did with then-Vice President Kamala Harris, which he’s already suing the company over. But Sunday’s coverage of Ukraine and Greenland clearly reignited his fury.

In the Ukraine piece, CBS correspondent Scott Pelley interviewed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and referenced Trump’s earlier claim that he would end the war “immediately”—a promise that hasn’t materialized. Pelley also challenged Trump’s claim that Ukraine started the war and his branding of Zelenskyy as a “dictator.” Zelenskyy responded, “I believe, sadly, Russian narratives are prevailing in the U.S.”
Then came the Greenland segment, which really seemed to irk Trump. The programme revisited his widely mocked push to acquire Greenland from Denmark. Local Greenlanders didn’t hold back, with Inuit elder Aqqaluk Lynge calling Trump’s remarks “ugly.” Referring to Trump’s claim that America would get Greenland “one way or the other,” Lynge said, “We all noticed that in Greenland. All of us.”
Trump didn’t mince words in his posts, claiming CBS was “out of control, at levels never seen before,” and insisting the network “should pay a big price.”

The backlash from the former president isn’t entirely unexpected, but his demands for shutdowns and massive fines over televised segments show just how far he’s willing to go to challenge the media coverage he doesn’t like.
