Whoopi Goldberg Stunned as Ana Navarro Calls Her ‘Skinny’ Live on The View

The Hot Topics segment on The View took an unexpected turn when the conversation shifted from headlines to Whoopi Goldberg and her impressive transformation that had everyone at the table buzzing.

It all started when The View hosts took a moment to celebrate Whoopi’s recent spotlight in New York Magazine’s “Legends of Broadway” feature, where she appeared alongside theatre icons like Barbra Streisand, Liza Minnelli, and Patti LuPone, reported Decider. When her cover photo popped up on the screen, Sunny Hostin immediately caught the throwback vibe. “That’s from my one-woman show,” she said, which Goldberg confirmed — a nod to the powerful 1984–85 performance that helped launch her career and earned her a Grammy.

But then Ana Navarro chimed in and stole the moment. Looking at the recent photo, she turned to Whoopi and said, “Girl, you’re back to being as skinny as you were back then.” The comment caught Whoopi completely off guard. She paused, visibly stunned, and then gave a shy, surprised, “I — Yeah.” Navarro wasn’t letting it go either: “You’re looking so good.” With a big smile, Whoopi finally responded, “I am.”

It was a rare, feel-good moment that had the audience cheering — and it also shed light on the journey Whoopi’s been on over the past year.

She’s been open about her weight-loss transformation, especially her decision to use the prescription drug Mounjaro. Back in March 2024, she shared on The View that she had once been nearly 300 pounds before turning to the medication. “It was good for me,” she said, calling it a “wonderful shot” that changed her life.

Still, she’s been clear that weight’s never defined her. “My weight has come and gone and up and down, but it’s never been an issue for me because I don’t listen to what other people say about me,” Whoopi said during a previous episode.

And when criticism or stigma around weight-loss medication started swirling last year, she didn’t hesitate to shut it down. “Yes, I took Mounjaro,” she said on-air in August. “I did it, you know? I say it all the time. Because you can’t go from close to 300 pounds without somebody saying, ‘OK, what happened?’ ‘Cause you know I didn’t go to the gym!”

For someone who’s always done things on her terms — whether on stage, on screen, or at the co-host table — Whoopi’s candidness and confidence continue to strike a chord. Tuesday’s lighthearted exchange wasn’t just about compliments — it was a reminder of how far she’s come and how good it feels to be seen.
