Karoline Leavitt Says Democrats Face Identity Crisis Fueled by Anti-Trump Views

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt fiercely criticized Democrats during her appearance on Jesse Watters Primetime on Monday, April 7, following a wave of nationwide protests against President Donald Trump’s latest policy decisions.

According to Fox News, more than 1,200 “Hands Off!” demonstrations were held across the United States, targeting several high-profile changes by the Trump administration, including the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) federal downsizing, the introduction of reciprocal tariffs, cuts to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, and sweeping immigration reforms.

Leavitt, 27, condemned the protests, dismissing them as little more than partisan opposition with no substantive policy alternatives. Speaking with host Jesse Watters, she declared, “The Democrat Party has been completely captivated by these far-left lunatics.”

She continued, “And I’m not sure which Democrat on Capitol Hill is going to stand up and be the sensible voice, but I won’t hold my breath and best of luck to them if one chooses to stand out.” Leavitt further claimed the protests were symptomatic of a broader identity crisis within the Democratic Party, which she described as being driven by anti-Trump sentiment rather than constructive policy ideas.

“They are enjoying their lowest approval rating ever because this is who they are trying to represent. These far-left activists who don’t stand for anything, they only stand against Donald Trump, and they hate,” she said.

Citing disturbing rhetoric from some protest participants, Leavitt emphasized the intensity of opposition to Trump. “As you just heard from that one individual who wished death upon the President of the United States, they did not just hate him, they hate the nearly 80 million Americans who elected him.

The Democrats have officially become the party of crazy. President Trump and the Republicans are the party of common sense,” she asserted. The White House also issued an official statement addressing the protests and reaffirming the president’s stance on key entitlement programs.

“President Trump’s position is clear: He will always protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid for eligible beneficiaries. Meanwhile, the Democrats’ stance is giving Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare benefits to illegal aliens, which will bankrupt these programs and crush American seniors,” the statement read.

While Monday’s protests drew large crowds and national attention, the administration remains steadfast in defending its policies, framing opposition as politically motivated and detached from the priorities of the American people.
