Florida 5-Year-Old Boy Allegedly Dies After Drinking Meth-Laced Apple Juice

A Florida mother has been arrested and charged with aggravated manslaughter after her five-year-old son died from drinking apple juice laced with methamphetamine, according to police.

Heather Opsincs, 37, was taken into custody last week following the tragic incident at a Riviera Beach hotel. Authorities responded to the scene on Sunday after reports that the child was unresponsive. Despite being rushed to the hospital in critical condition, the boy later died.

Investigators say Opsincs left her son unattended in the hotel room, where an open bottle of meth-contaminated apple juice was accessible in the refrigerator. A babysitter told police they saw the boy drink from the bottle before spitting it out, saying it “tasted weird.” Shortly after, the child began shivering, sweating, and developed rashes across his body.

According to the arrest report, the boy vomited and suffered seizure-like symptoms before his condition rapidly deteriorated. The Riviera Beach Police Department confirmed that the child died from methamphetamine poisoning.

In a Facebook post, police shared images of drug paraphernalia found at the scene, including juice bottles and drug pipes. “The Riviera Beach Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the child during this difficult time,” the statement read.

Opsincs was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail with a bond set at $100,000. She is scheduled to appear in court later this month. The case has sparked outrage and renewed concerns over child safety in homes where drugs are present. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.
