Karine Jean-Pierre, former White House press secretary under Joe Biden, is enthusiastically embracing life after politics. Recently attending the opening night of ‘Othello’ on Broadway, featuring renowned actors Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal, Jean-Pierre shared insights into her life since departing her prominent role at the White House.
Speaking candidly about her transition, Jean-Pierre revealed, “It was an honor and a privilege to have the job and to have done it for two and a half years, but I don’t miss it.” She explained that since stepping down in January 2025, her priorities have shifted toward personal well-being, enjoying activities such as “self-care, sleep, hanging out with my family, hanging out with my friends.”

Jean-Pierre’s tenure as press secretary, lasting from May 2022 to January 2025, was historic. She became the first Black person and the first openly LGBTQ individual to hold this prominent position. Taking over from Jen Psaki, Jean-Pierre previously served as chief of staff for Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2020 presidential campaign.
Reflecting on her initial briefing in 2022, Jean-Pierre underscored the gravity of her groundbreaking role. “It’s a real honor to be standing here today … I appreciate the historic nature,” she stated at the time. She further emphasized, “I believe that being behind this podium, being in this room, being in this building, is not about one person. It’s about what we do on behalf of the American people.”
Jean-Pierre praised President Biden’s administration for its dedication to diversity, characterizing it as “the most diverse administration in history.” Despite leaving her White House role, she remains influential and sought-after, although she has not publicly announced any future professional plans.

Her attendance at the Broadway adaptation of Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’ highlights her enthusiasm for theater and the arts. Speaking about her passion for Broadway, she remarked, “To support Broadway, to come out and see the plays and the musicals, and having an opportunity to see Denzel Washington do Shakespeare … I cannot wait.
I cannot wait to see him on the stage.” Jean-Pierre also described ‘Othello’ as “a complex, nuanced play that has tons of human emotions,” according to People. Whether Karine Jean-Pierre returns to public service or explores new ventures remains uncertain, but her post-White House life is clearly focused on joy, culture, and personal fulfillment.
