Amy Klobuchar Shreds Trump’s Adviser Live on Air—Mocks ‘Unbelievable’ Elon Musk Conspiracy Theory

Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) dismissed National Security Adviser Michael Waltz’s recent conspiracy theory involving journalist Jeffrey Goldberg and the controversial leak of classified military plans via a Signal group chat. During an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Klobuchar responded incredulously to Waltz’s assertions, labeling them “unbelievable.”

The controversy erupted after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth inadvertently included Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, in a Signal app group chat discussing sensitive military operations against Yemen’s Houthi militia. Waltz escalated tensions when he insinuated in a Fox News interview that Goldberg deliberately infiltrated the group chat, describing the respected journalist as “a loser.”

“Unbelievable,” Klobuchar remarked to Cooper. “I think this is an unbelievable assertion to make.” She ridiculed the notion that Goldberg somehow intentionally inserted himself into the discussion. “And the point is, he did not get – I love this – that he somehow got sucked into this text thing. There’s no big vacuum cleaner there,” she added sarcastically. “They put him on this text line.”

Klobuchar also mocked Waltz’s suggestion that Elon Musk, the billionaire tech mogul, could potentially resolve the breach. She highlighted Musk’s ongoing challenges managing critical social service systems, saying, “My favorite part of all this is that if you notice what Waltz said, he said, ‘We got to talk to Elon about this.’ Like Elon Musk is now the White House IT guy who is currently screwing up the entire Social Security system so there’s five hour waits and private information is at risk. All of that’s going on, and they think Elon can just fix it.”

Characterizing the incident as “an example of incompetency” that endangered national security, Klobuchar strongly condemned the administration’s handling of the leak. She expressed shock at officials’ claims under oath that the leaked information was not classified. “I still cannot believe they said this wasn’t classified, but they said that under oath,” she emphasized.

Klobuchar concluded forcefully that accountability was necessary, declaring, “someone should lose their job over this.” She also raised alarms about potential further breaches, questioning, “How many other things have they disclosed this way? How many other things have they put out there? This is not what you do with our national security secrets.”
