After a morning filled with self-congratulatory posts on Truth Social, President Donald Trump turned his attention to a North Carolina town hall hosted by Rep. Chuck Edwards (R), lashing out at protesters in attendance and accusing them of being paid agitators.
Trump, promoting his social media platform, began his Sunday with a boastful post: “TRUTH (Social) is on ‘FIRE’ (in a positive way, of course!). It is my Voice and the Real Voice of America. Sign up TODAY, I have never let you down!” He followed it with another enthusiastic message: “I LOVE $TRUMP — SO COOL!!! The Greatest of them all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

But the tone quickly shifted when he addressed the recent town hall held by Edwards in Asheville, North Carolina. Trump claimed the event was disrupted by unruly protesters and criticized their behavior in harsh terms.
“I just watched our GREAT Republican Congressman from North Carolina, CHUCK EDWARDS, hold a Town Hall in Asheville. He was a total gentleman, but the room was ‘littered’ with Radical Left Lunatics, mostly Democrats, and all they did was scream, shout and use filthy language,” Trump wrote. “They were largely paid agitators, with fake signs and slogans, and were only there to make TROUBLE! Chuck put up with it, and was WONDERFUL!”
Trump went on to revisit past grievances, turning his attention to federal disaster relief efforts and accusing the Biden administration of neglecting the state.
“Remember, BIDEN AND HIS FEMA DID NOTHING FOR NORTH CAROLINA and the terrible hurricane which did so much damage,” he claimed. “As soon as I got to the office, we worked miracles, with ZERO HELP FROM THE DEMS. WE HAVE BEEN PRAISED FOR THE JOB THAT WE DID, AND THE DEMOCRATS HAVE BEEN SCORNED.”

He also took a swipe at North Carolina’s Democratic Governor Roy Cooper, implying Republicans were carrying the load. “Also remember, you have a Democrat Governor who is supposed to be doing the work that Chuck, and other Republicans, are doing.”
Trump concluded his remarks by urging supporters not to be fooled by disruptions at GOP events: “Don’t let infiltrated Town Halls fool you. It (sic) the only thing the Dems know how to do. Great Job Chuck!!!” Neither Rep. Edwards nor the protesters have responded publicly to Trump’s remarks.
