A Colorado Springs hotel has canceled a planned event featuring Steve Bannon, a former Trump adviser and convicted criminal, following public backlash and protests from local activists. The Antlers hotel, which was set to host the dinner organized by the Colorado Republican Party, withdrew from the reservation after significant online criticism, according to a report by The Denver Gazette.
The Colorado GOP quickly blamed left-wing groups for the cancellation, stating that “Antifa, the Denver Democratic Socialists of America, and other radical Democrats are trying desperately to disrupt and cancel our event but we won’t let them.” The party assured its supporters that “this dinner event will move forward with Steve Bannon,” though an alternate venue has yet to be announced.

The movement against the event was reportedly led by local business owner James Proby, who spearheaded efforts to pressure The Antlers into withdrawing its hosting agreement. Opponents of the event referred to it as a “white supremacy gathering,” according to the Gazette.
Bannon, a key strategist in Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, was convicted in 2022 for criminal contempt of Congress after refusing to comply with the House Select Committee’s investigation into the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots. He served several months in prison before being released ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
