GOP’s James Comer Vows Criminal Charges Against ActBlue: “This Will Be the End of the Democratic Party”

Rep. James Comer (R-KY), chairman of the House Oversight Committee, has pledged to pursue criminal charges against Democratic fundraising platform ActBlue, citing fraud allegations. During an appearance with right-wing podcaster Benny Johnson, Comer suggested that legal action is imminent.

Johnson posted on X Thursday, claiming, “Rep. James Comer and the FBI to bring CRIMINAL CHARGES against those behind ActBlue, The Largest Money Laundering Scheme in U.S. history: ‘We are going forward with our investigation. Their lawyers are leaving… This will be the end of the Democratic Party.'”

ActBlue, a nonprofit organization that facilitates small-dollar donations to Democratic candidates and causes, maintains that its mission is to “transform power structures in our country.” Comer pointed to the platform’s numerous small-dollar contributions—”tons and tons and tons” of $10 and $20 donations—as a “red flag” potentially indicating fraudulent activity.

“This thing is just rotten!” Johnson exclaimed. “I don’t know if we have the direct evidence just yet, but man, you sure can put the pieces together and say that ActBlue must be one of the largest money laundering organs this side of the Biden family.”

Comer concurred, saying, “And that’s the same way we’re going to investigate this, the same way we investigated the Bidens. We’re starting with the suspicious activity reports. These are the bank violations. If anyone commits a financial crime, the banks will catch it.”

Comer previously spearheaded an investigation into President Joe Biden and his family over alleged “influence peddling,” though the inquiry failed to produce conclusive evidence of wrongdoing. In January, he published a book detailing his suspicions.

“We tried to do this before the November election, but the Biden administration would not cooperate with us,” Comer told Johnson regarding the ActBlue probe. Johnson then asked Comer if he had sought confirmation from FBI Director Kash Patel about an active investigation.

“Have you asked [FBI Director] Kash [Patel]?” Johnson inquired. “I know you’re very close with Kash. Have you asked him if there’s an FBI investigation into this? Do you have any confirmation?” “I promised Kash I won’t talk about our conversations in interviews,” Comer replied. “But I’ll tell you this, I have 100% confidence in Kash Patel.

And I just light up when anyone mentions Kash Patel’s name! Because I’ve had to deal with Christopher Wray for the last 2 1/2 years. Kash Patel is a breath of fresh air.” The investigation into ActBlue remains ongoing, with Comer vowing to continue his efforts to uncover financial irregularities.
