Meghan Markle gives a special ode to UK life in an effort to ease the royal rift

Meghan Markle appears to be extending an olive branch to the royal family, making an unexpected reference to her time in England in a recent newsletter for her new lifestyle brand, As Ever.

The Duchess of Sussex, who stepped down as a senior royal alongside Prince Harry in 2020, recently launched her business venture after facing criticism for her and Harry’s tell-all interviews and projects that reportedly strained relations with the monarchy.

Since launching As Ever, Meghan has been personally curating newsletters for her subscribers, sharing stories about her brand’s products and updates on her latest endeavors. However, in her most recent message, she made a rare, positive mention of her life in the UK—despite previously detailing her struggles as a royal in her explosive 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.

“When I think of the things I look forward to most, I usually find them in the unexpected, in the thoughtful gesture, in the small details that show care,” Meghan wrote.

The former Suits actress reflected on the importance of personal touches and shared some of the small things that bring her happiness. “They say ‘it’s the thought that counts,’ but I would go a step further—it’s the thought that counts the most,” she added.

Surprisingly, Meghan then mentioned a cherished memory from her time in England. “Crunchy and delicious shortbread cookies that remind me of my time in England, with tiny flower sprinkles to add extra beauty and charm to enjoy each delicate bite.”

The newsletter concluded with Meghan expressing her hope that As Ever will offer customers a glimpse into her personal life. “With As Ever, I welcome you to the feeling of my home, and invite you to have this joy in your home too,” she wrote.

Her comments come amid reports that Harry and Meghan have been working to repair their relationship with the royal family after years of tension. Insiders suggest the couple has been toning down their criticism of the monarchy in recent months, sparking speculation about a potential reconciliation.

While Meghan’s remarks may seem like a subtle attempt at extending goodwill, royal watchers remain divided on whether this signals a true effort to mend fences or simply a marketing strategy for her brand.
