Lara Trump Calls Out Biden for Using Autopen Forgets Trump May Have Done the Same

Lara Trump is taking aim at former President Joe Biden following reports that he used an autopen to sign official documents, sparking debate over the legitimacy of presidential orders. On her podcast, The Right View with Lara Trump, she addressed the issue alongside Breitbart News editor-in-chief Alex Marlow and political commentator Franklin Camargo, discussing findings from the Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project.

While the use of an autopen has stirred controversy, experts note that the practice is not new. Many past presidents—including Donald Trump—have used the device to sign documents when unavailable to do so by hand. During the discussion, Lara Trump raised concerns about whether Biden’s reliance on the autopen could invalidate some of the orders he signed, particularly pardons issued near the end of his presidency.

Marlow, who dismissed claims that Biden was a mere “puppet” during his term, still argued that using an autopen should not be allowed. “Isn’t the whole point of signing something that the person who signs it takes ownership over it?” Marlow questioned. “You don’t really know who controls the autopen.”

Lara Trump echoed those concerns, criticizing the influence of unelected individuals within the White House. “Maybe does it negate some of the pardons that were so handily given out there at the end of Biden’s time in office?” she asked.

She went on to say, “I think that this is the sort of thing that makes the American people even less trusting of our federal government and all the agencies.” Biden issued several pardons in his final days, including one for his son, Hunter Biden. Camargo added to the discussion by questioning the transparency of the government.

“How are you going to trust the government when you don’t really know who is in charge?” he asked. Despite the debate, a Washington Examiner report clarified that the use of an autopen is a longstanding practice. Many U.S. presidents over the past half-century have utilized the device for signing official documents when unavailable to do so manually, according to The Irish Star.

The Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project also weighed in, sharing a report on X that claimed Biden consistently used the same autopen signature for his executive orders. While some argue the practice is routine, critics like Lara Trump believe it raises serious questions about presidential accountability and the legitimacy of key decisions made in Biden’s final days in office.
