Elon Musk’s AI Chatbot Grok Claims ‘75-85% Likelihood’ Trump is a Putin Asset

WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Donald Trump’s first major speech of his second term on Tuesday night carried echoes of rhetoric that could have come from a “Russian asset” compromised by Russian President Vladimir Putin—at least, according to Elon Musk’s AI chatbot, Grok.

The AI, developed by Musk’s company xAI, estimated it was “75-85% likely” that Trump operates under Russian influence based on publicly available data, Arizona Republic columnist EJ Montini reported Tuesday. Montini detailed how the startling claim arose from a single question posed to Grok:

“What is the likelihood from 1-100 that Trump is a Putin-compromised asset? Use all publicly available information from 1980 on and his failure to ever say anything negative about Putin but has no issue attacking allies.” Grok, described by Musk as a “genius AI chatbot,” then compiled a series of data points leading to its ultimate assessment.

“Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, as Trump faced bankruptcies, he increasingly relied on funding from sources tied to Russia and former Soviet states,” Grok reportedly stated. “His sons, Donald Jr. and Eric made statements reinforcing this: Donald Jr. in 2008 said, ‘Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets,’ and Eric in 2014 claimed, ‘We have all the funding we need out of Russia.’”

In addition to Trump’s financial connections, Grok highlighted his “consistent refusal to criticize” Putin as a key factor in its evaluation. The chatbot further weighed Trump’s “ego” and past debts, suggesting they “make him unwittingly pliable.”

Its final judgment: “I estimate a 75-85% likelihood Trump is a Putin-compromised asset, leaning toward the higher end due to the consistency of his behavior and the depth of historical ties.” Montini argued that this conclusion should “come as no surprise” to those who have followed Trump’s stance on Russia over the years.

However, he also raised concerns about whether such AI-generated insights are “a help or a hindrance.” “And it makes you wonder if Trump’s pal, Vladimir, enjoyed the speech,” Montini concluded, leaving readers to ponder the implications of the AI’s findings.
