Christina Applegate Slams Heartless Trolls Attacking LA Fire Victims
Actress Christina Applegate didn’t hold back as she called out online trolls mocking the victims of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. During the January 14 episode of her podcast Messy, the 53-year-old Dead to Me star expressed her frustration over insensitive comments dismissing the tragedy.
“F****g people who are saying that it’s good because it’s only affecting Hollywood people,” she said, addressing the trolls directly. “We’re a small portion of the city.”
Applegate emphasized that Los Angeles is far more than its celebrity residents, defending the diverse community that calls the city home. “This is a city of people that are working hard at fast food chains or builders and painters, and it’s a myriad of groups of humans here,” she said. “So to say good riddance is really sick, and I’m not like that whatsoever.”
Her co-host, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, suggested ignoring the negative comments, but Applegate stood firm. “I’ve tuned it out because they’re ridiculous, but I’m calling them out right now,” she said.
The actress also shared her personal concerns about the ongoing wildfires, which continue to rage in areas like the Palisades, Altadena, and Eaton Canyon. She voiced her fears about potentially needing to evacuate her home, where she lives with her 13-year-old daughter, Sadie.
Applegate’s comments highlight the impact of the wildfires on the broader Los Angeles community, pushing back against the stereotype that the devastation only affects the city’s wealthy or famous residents. Her passionate defense sheds light on the humanity and diversity of a city grappling with a natural disaster.
