Meghan Markle has just been hailed as a ‘pioneer’ who changed the game, Says Expert

Meghan Markle has been praised for transforming Buckingham Palace’s communications approach, with her influence being credited for the shift in how the royal family presents itself on social media. This conversation came into focus following Prince William’s recent “gushing” post about his wife, Princess Kate, which some experts believe was inspired by Meghan’s social media strategy.

Royal commentator Daniela Elser shared her thoughts in a piece for News.com.au, noting that while a husband publicly declaring his love for his wife might be common for most people, “when has anything to do with Crown Inc. even remotely verged on the normal?” She referred to William’s post as “close to Old Faithful levels of gushing,” a nod to its enthusiastic and public display of affection.

However, Elser pointed out that this shift in communication strategy is thanks to Meghan Markle, stating, “There is only one person that the Waleses have to thank for their tilt towards the perma-emoting, none other than sponge-cake-maker-in-chief, Meghan.”

She credited the Duchess of Sussex with revolutionizing Kensington Palace’s social media tactics, moving them away from the stiff, traditional royal messaging toward a more personal and relatable approach.

Elser further explained, “It was the duchess, with her instinctive grasp of social media, who was the real revolutionary force behind the obvious shift in Kensington Palace’s communications strategy, away from the rictus and towards the real.” She pointed out that it didn’t take long for the rest of the royal family to adopt Meghan’s social media style.

“Today, not only the prince and princess’ but King Charles’ Buckingham Palace X and Instagram accounts bear the fingerprints of the duchess’ style,” she noted. Despite her pivotal role in shaping how the royals engage with the public, Elser humorously quipped, “Somehow, I don’t think they have yet gotten around to writing her a thank you card.”

Meghan’s influence on the royal family’s online presence marks a significant shift in their communications, with a focus on more authentic and engaging content—a strategy that has proven successful in connecting with the public.
