Meghan Markle Sends Clear Message Won’t Tolerate Online Abuse in Her Spaces, Expert Says

Meghan Markle has received support for her decision to limit online engagement and block out trolls, particularly as a means of protecting her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The Duchess of Sussex faced criticism after disabling comments on her latest Instagram post, as some have questioned her move to limit interaction with her followers.

However, social media expert Ryan T Williams has come to Meghan’s defense, calling her actions “brave” and emphasizing that her decision is a clear statement against online abuse. Williams noted that Meghan is protecting not only herself but also her children from the toxic nature of the internet.

“Put yourself in her shoes, why should she put up with it? She’s not fair game, and she’s sending a clear message that she isn’t allowing online abuse in her spaces, keep it on your own pages,” Williams told the Daily Star. He further explained that Meghan’s decision helps to keep the focus on her projects and the causes she cares about, particularly through her charitable foundation, Archewell.

“It keeps the focus on her content and her projects, which are incredibly important to her and the ones Archewell supports,” Williams continued. “She’s sending a clear message that she won’t be allowing the trolls to attack her.”

Williams also pointed out the importance of online protection for children, particularly for high-profile figures like Meghan and Harry. “More parents need to look at protecting their kids online,” he said. “In the work, I’ve been doing over the last few years, I’ve found there are three types of parents: the kind that doesn’t care, the kind that doesn’t know, and the kind that is all over it.”

The expert emphasized the risks of online exposure for children, noting that “the dangers for kids online are vast and for their kids especially as there is an unhealthy obsession with them and what they look like which I’m sure Harry and Meghan are purposefully protecting them from.”

Meghan’s decision to limit online interactions is not just about protecting her own space but also shielding her children from the harmful attention they often receive. In an era where digital abuse is a growing concern, Williams’ support underscores the importance of taking proactive steps to safeguard one’s family from online threats.
