Ariana Grande Drops Bombshell About Upcoming ‘Wicked’ Sequel

Ariana Grande has revealed the story behind the title of the highly anticipated Wicked sequel, officially named Wicked: For Good. The announcement shared through a short video on Wicked’s official Instagram account, confirmed the title as a tribute to the musical’s climactic duet, For Good.
The sequel, set for release on November 21, 2025, will conclude Universal’s two-part adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical. Grande, who stars as Glinda the Good Witch, explained the significance of the title during an interview with Variety.
“We were floating around different ideas, but For Good was there since day one. I’m glad it’s official now because we grew rather attached to it,” Grande shared, adding that the phrase had been printed on the original hard-copy scripts given to the cast.
According to Daily Mail, Wicked: For Good will see the return of Grande alongside Cynthia Erivo, who portrays Elphaba, the green-skinned girl destined to become the Wicked Witch of the West. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the first installment of Wicked debuted over Thanksgiving week and quickly became a box office hit, surpassing $500 million globally.
The sequel will feature a star-studded ensemble cast, including Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, and Peter Dinklage. In addition to the sequel’s title reveal, Universal announced special Wicked sing-along screenings beginning Christmas Day, inviting fans to celebrate the musical’s legacy through an interactive experience.
The intense production process of Wicked has forged deep bonds among the cast. Cynthia Erivo, reflecting on the rigorous preparation for her demanding role, spoke warmly of her growing friendship with Grande.
“I’ve gained a sister,” Erivo told Elle Magazine.
With Wicked: For Good set to conclude the epic retelling of the Wizard of Oz prequel, anticipation continues to build among fans eager to see how the story of Glinda and Elphaba reaches its emotional finale. As the title suggests, the sequel promises to honor the themes of friendship and transformation that have made Wicked an enduring classic.
