Rep. Lauren Boebert’s height—standing at just 5 feet and weighing around 100 pounds—has become a notable part of her political identity and advocacy for gun rights. The Colorado congresswoman has often referenced her petite stature to emphasize her stance on personal protection, especially for women. “I don’t wear a gun on my hip to make a statement.

I wear it because I’m 5 feet tall and spend a lot of time alone in my restaurant making sure things are perfect,” Boebert once shared on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting how her height influences her views on firearms. For Boebert, self-defense is a critical issue, particularly for women, and she uses her small stature to reinforce her perspective.

She has argued that “the Left’s gun control agenda will affect America’s women more than anyone else. I’m a five-foot-tall, 100-pound woman. The only way I’m safe to walk around any dangerous liberal city is with an equalizer. Gun control is anti-woman.” Her former restaurant, Shooters Grill in Rifle, Colorado, became a living example of her beliefs on self-defense and gun rights. Known for its gun-carrying staff, the establishment embodied her philosophy on personal protection, according to Newsweek.

Boebert has cited a tragic incident near her restaurant as a catalyst for her open-carry policy. “There was an altercation outside of my restaurant where a man was physically beaten to death. There were no weapons involved. He was beaten to death by another man’s hands. I have a lot of young girls who work in my restaurant. And we needed an equalizer,” she explained.

However, CNN investigations later cast some doubt on Boebert’s account of the incident. Despite these discrepancies, her dedication to Second Amendment rights has remained steadfast. Boebert has become a prominent gun rights advocate in Congress, even distributing a Christmas card featuring her four children holding firearms. Currently, she is pushing to increase the global share of civilian gun ownership among Americans, currently at 46%.

Boebert’s height is more than a physical detail; it shapes her political persona and rhetoric. In June, Boebert announced her bid to run for Colorado’s 4th Congressional District rather than the 3rd, a decision motivated by strategic considerations. Her support for gun rights remains strong, even in this new district that spans rural areas and Denver suburbs. Her petite stature plays a significant role in her connection with voters, symbolizing her belief in the importance of self-defense and her unwavering commitment to the Second Amendment.
