Daniel Craig recently opened up about his experiences filming intimate scenes, admitting that some have been “terrible.” The 56-year-old actor, who is set to star in the upcoming gay romance film Queer, shared his thoughts in an interview with Britain’s HELLO! Magazine.

“I’ve shot some terrible love scenes in my career,” Craig confessed. “They’re out there to see.” Reflecting on the challenges of making such scenes authentic, he added, “Again, that sort of vulnerability, openness, surrender, and keeping it as real as it possibly can be.” His comments highlighted the complexities actors face in portraying intimacy on screen.

Discussing Queer and his on-screen chemistry with co-star Drew Starkey, Craig expressed his excitement about the bond they developed while working together. He noted that their connection made filming the intimate scenes more comfortable and believable. “I was thankful that I had him to play opposite,” the Knives Out star said, emphasizing the importance of trust between actors when filming such sensitive moments.

“When Drew came along, it was straight into rehearsals and rolling around on the floor doing these incredible moves,” Craig recalled. “So we kind of broke the ice with that.” The Skyfall actor highlighted how their immediate work together helped establish a strong rapport, which he believes will translate well on screen.

Queer, directed by Luca Guadagnino, is a historical romance drama set to be released in the United States on November 27, 2024. The film follows the story of an American expat (played by Craig) who becomes infatuated with a younger man (portrayed by Starkey). The film’s narrative explores themes of longing, vulnerability, and connection, promising audiences an emotionally charged and visually captivating experience.

Craig’s candid reflections on his past experiences and his enthusiasm for his latest role show his dedication to evolving as an actor. With Queer, he aims to bring authenticity and depth to a complex story, highlighting the emotional and physical nuances of love and attraction.
