Lauren Boebert’s Divorce and ‘Beetlejuice’ Scandal Become Hot Topic on The View

U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert’s recent controversies, including her high-profile divorce and the infamous Beetlejuice scandal, became the center of discussion on a recent episode of The View. During the Hot Topic segment, the panel delved into the Colorado congresswoman’s behavior, with co-host Joy Behar leading the charge.

According to the New York Post, Behar, an 81-year-old comedian known for her left-leaning views, took a sarcastic jab at Boebert. She mocked Boebert’s Beetlejuice incident and referenced the lawmaker’s divorce from her husband of 18 years, Jayson Boebert. “She’s the one to reach across the aisle if you want my opinion,” Behar quipped, adding that Boebert was now “divorced from him and reality.”

For those unfamiliar with the scandal, Boebert was removed from a performance of Beetlejuice at Denver’s Buell Theatre on September 10, 2023. The Denver Post reported that Boebert’s disruptive behavior during the show included vaping, singing loudly, and taking flash photos. She was seen on camera alongside her date, Quinn Gallagher, a registered Democrat and co-owner of Hooch Craft Cocktail Bar in Aspen.

The pair were recorded making inappropriate physical advances, leading to their removal from the venue following complaints from other audience members. Boebert resisted, allegedly saying, “Do you know who I am?” and “I will be contacting the mayor.” Later, Boebert blamed her behavior on the stress of her impending divorce.

However, not all the hosts on The View were critical of Boebert. Republican co-host Ana Navarro defended the congresswoman, sharing her own experiences with divorce. “I was with my ex for 15 years, and I never thought these words would come out of my mouth, but I related to Lauren Boebert here. Somebody, please bring me two aspirin; I’m going to lay down,” Navarro commented.

Navarro continued, offering a sympathetic perspective. “I think, once it’s finally over and signed with, you have that sense of closure, but you also have other emotions,” she explained. “It’s bittersweet, there’s nostalgia, there’s 15, 17 years of lived experiences, there’s children, there’s so much that you had together. And I think you do have these feelings. Once the legal aspect is over, those things kind of come out.”

Co-host Sunny Hostin also expressed compassion for Boebert. “I think that she’s not someone I believe in politically, but 18 years of marriage is a really long time. That’s a life built together and a lot of chapters,” Hostin noted. “I don’t want to celebrate the demise of anyone’s marriage, and, if he’s grabbing her butt, which is what he was doing, after their divorce, more power to them.”

Despite the supportive comments from Navarro and Hostin, Behar had the final say. “Well, I heard that Beetlejuice is going on the road,” she scoffed. “So there’s plenty to do.” The discussion highlighted the divided views on Boebert’s personal life and behavior, reflecting the broader polarization surrounding the congresswoman’s public image.
