Grande quickly responded in the comments of Elvira’s post, expressing her dismay. “I’m so disheartened to see this,” she wrote, addressing the alleged snub. The 31-year-old singer explained that the incident occurred roughly seven years ago and that she doesn’t remember the encounter due to an anxiety attack she experienced at the time, as per reports Deadline.
“I actually don’t even remember getting the chance to meet you because I had an anxiety attack and, to my memory, left before the rest of my family,” Grande explained. She noted that during that period, she struggled with being in public crowds or loud places, which may have contributed to the misunderstanding.
Despite her uncertainty about the details, Grande sincerely apologized to Elvira. “If I’m misremembering this moment, I sincerely apologize for offending you so. Thank you for being so nice to my mom—she told me how lovely you were.” Grande added a touch of humor, suggesting that her mom’s feelings might have changed after hearing about the incident but promised to talk to her.
