Mary Trump argued that, despite Harris’ efforts, journalists remain unsatisfied, saying, “They’ve moved the goalposts.” She expressed frustration, stating, “After years of abdicating its journalistic responsibility by showering the man who calls them ‘the enemy of the people’ with billions of dollars in unearned media and failing to cover even his most egregious conduct with the scrutiny it deserves, the corporate media has decided to get tough with Kamala Harris just as they did with President Biden. It’s as if they think we won’t notice the double standard. But we do.”
Mary Trump also highlighted that her uncle, former President Donald Trump, allegedly ducked a 60 Minutes interview over concerns about fact-checking. She emphasized the irony, writing, “Think about the implications of that for a second.”
Defending Harris’ media strategy, Mary Trump argued that the vice president’s appearance on Call Her Daddy was not only long but also “substantive,” addressing key issues such as reproductive rights that resonate with voters. She applauded Harris and her team’s approach, asserting that they’ve crafted an effective media plan aimed at reaching voters rather than appeasing “Beltway media.”
“And that’s the problem—at least from the perspective of a still white-male dominated industry that considers itself the sine qua non of political discourse,” Mary Trump stated. “Because Kamala Harris refuses to kiss the rings of those corporate media masters, a refusal they cannot fathom or accept, they seek to tear her down.”
