Donald Trump criticized President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday, accusing them of mishandling the federal response to Hurricane Helene, which has caused widespread devastation across several Southeastern states, including Georgia and North Carolina.

Taking to his social media platform, Truth Social, the former president lashed out at the Biden administration’s efforts, claiming both leaders were failing to effectively manage the disaster.

“Kamala and Sleepy Joe are universally being given POOR GRADES for the way that they are handling the Hurricane, especially in North Carolina,” Trump wrote. “It is going down as the WORST & MOST INCOMPETENTLY MANAGED ‘STORM,’ AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL, EVER SEEN BEFORE – BUT THEIR MANAGEMENT OF THE BORDER IS WORSE! MAGA2024.”

Hurricane Helene has brought severe destruction to multiple states, leading to significant emergency responses at both state and federal levels. While Biden and Harris have been actively involved in coordinating relief efforts, Trump’s remarks focused on what he described as a failure of leadership.

Despite Trump’s criticisms, the Biden administration has been working closely with state governments to provide aid, including mobilizing FEMA and National Guard resources. Both Biden and Harris have visited affected areas, with the administration promising ongoing support for rebuilding efforts.

Trump’s comments come amid ongoing political tensions as he campaigns for the 2024 presidential election, frequently using crises like Hurricane Helene to highlight what he views as the shortcomings of the current administration. His harsh critique of Biden and Harris has drawn attention but also raised questions about the politicization of disaster relief efforts during a time of crisis.

As the storm recovery continues, the response from federal, state, and local governments will remain in the spotlight, with both praise and criticism likely to follow in the weeks to come.
