On the September 30th episode of The Voice, legendary rapper Snoop Dogg used his Coach Replay button for a contestant named Gail Bliss, drawing an emotional parallel between her and his late mother. The 61-year-old singer’s audition deeply resonated with Snoop, who later revealed that her presence reminded him of his mother, Tate, who passed away in 2021.

According to People, Snoop’s decision to use his Coach Replay button—a feature introduced this season—was rooted in a heartfelt connection. “The spirit of my mother is in me right now,” Snoop shared after Gail’s performance. The Bad Decisions singer elaborated, explaining that Gail’s name had a personal significance as well. “My mother’s sister’s name was Gail, which was one of my favorite aunties. You couldn’t see me, but I had my hand like this the whole way,” he said, recalling how he had been emotionally invested throughout the audition.

Recognizing the special bond he felt, Snoop explained the new feature that allowed him to reconsider contestants. “They added a piece to the puzzle this year called the Coach’s Replay… so if I were to push this button right now, you would be on my team,” Snoop told Gail.

The emotional moment culminated when Snoop hit the red button, officially adding Gail to his team. The gesture brought tears to Gail, who became the oldest contestant in the competition. After giving her a hug, Snoop added, “My mother’s spirit is all in you right now.”

For those unaware, Snoop Dogg’s mother, Tate, passed away at the age of 70 in October 2021 following an undisclosed illness. At the time, Snoop shared a series of tributes to his mother on Instagram, expressing his grief and love. One touching post featured a photo of the rapper and his mother, captioned, “Mama thank u for having me.”

The emotional connection between Snoop and Gail’s audition was a touching moment on The Voice, a show that airs every Monday on NBC at 8 p.m. ET and is available on Peacock the following day. Snoop’s decision to replay Gail’s audition adds a heartwarming layer to the competition, as he continues to honor his mother’s memory.
