In the aftermath of a heated vice presidential debate between Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) and Governor Tim Walz (D-MN), Donald Trump Jr. made a bold statement, calling on President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to allow his father, former President Donald Trump, to “take over” key government operations. His comments were fueled by criticism of the administration’s handling of domestic and international affairs, particularly in the context of disaster response and foreign aid.

Shortly after the debate concluded, Donald Trump Jr. took to the media, arguing that his father had achieved more for U.S. disaster relief efforts than the current administration. He claimed that his father had worked with tech mogul Elon Musk to provide internet access to victims of Hurricane Helene through the Starlink satellite system while accusing the Biden-Harris administration of prioritizing foreign aid over domestic concerns, told Raw Story.

“How about we just send it to North Carolina, Georgia?” Trump Jr. suggested, implying that the billions of dollars sent to Ukraine would be better spent on U.S. states in need. “My father’s doing more for North Carolina and Georgia by getting Elon to bring in Starlink and supplies to be able to create communications,” he added.

Despite these claims, White House spokesperson Andrew Bates responded by clarifying that Starlink services were “already happening” in affected areas before Donald Trump’s call to Musk. Bates’ statement aimed to dispel the notion that the former president’s involvement had been the catalyst for relief efforts. However, this detail did little to change Donald Trump Jr.’s stance.

In a fiery critique of the Biden-Harris administration, Trump Jr. continued to push the idea that his father should take charge of disaster response. “Honestly, what Kamala Harris and Joe Biden should do is like, ‘Donald, please, please take over the disaster response because we’re too busy taking care of our enemies around the world and making sure that Iran feels comfortable and is well-funded to keep attacking our enemies,’” he said.

The sentiment behind Trump Jr.’s remarks reflects a broader frustration among supporters of the former president, who believe the current administration is neglecting domestic issues in favor of international concerns. “If he wanted to actually solve something for the American people, put him in charge now,” Trump Jr. concluded, reinforcing his belief that his father’s leadership would better serve the nation in times of crisis.
