With just two months left until the presidential election, former First Lady Melania Trump has sparked controversy by promoting her upcoming memoir and a new Christmas ornament collection, all while her husband, Donald Trump, makes his third bid for the White House. Critics have accused Melania of making a “shameless” career shift during a critical time in her husband’s campaign, particularly with her unexpected focus on holiday decor.

Melania, who has largely stayed out of the public spotlight since Donald Trump’s 2020 defeat, recently ramped up her social media activity to promote her new memoir and a collection of Christmas ornaments titled Merry Christmas, AMERICA! The collection features ornaments priced between $75 and $90, with names like “USA Star” and “Vote Liberty.” The timing of her posts—just days after a second assassination attempt on Donald Trump at his Florida golf club on September 15—has only fueled the criticism.

In a tweet, Melania shared her excitement about the collection, writing, “Each unique piece captures the magic of the holiday season. Let these ornaments inspire cherished memories and bring warmth to your entire family.” However, the business move has stirred mixed reactions online, with some accusing the former First Lady of using her platform for personal financial gain.

One critic tweeted, “You are dreadful. What a pathetic grifter. Maybe, she doesn’t know that historically ex-first ladies never used their position to grift.” Another user harshly commented on the designs, saying, “Eeeew. Those nightmare-before-Christmas ornaments are horrid.” Others suggested that the entire Trump family’s actions resemble “a late-night infomercial,” referencing not only Melania’s ornaments but also Donald Trump’s ventures, such as selling silver coins and books.

MAGA Fans Show Support

Despite the criticism, many Trump supporters have rallied behind Melania’s new business venture. One enthusiastic fan wrote, “My wife will love these!” while another added, “Beauty!!! I am a passionate collector!! I am getting this ASAP!! Thank you very much, Queen.”

Alongside the ornament launch, Melania is also preparing for the release of her memoir, Melania, set to be released on October 8. The book promises an inside look at her life, from her early modeling career to her time in the White House. While much of the content remains under wraps, promotional videos hint that it will cover her White House projects and address her controversial past, including her nude modeling photos.

A Shift in Public Presence

Melania’s sudden increase in social media activity stands in stark contrast to her otherwise private public image. Throughout the summer, she made only a handful of posts, but since September, she has ramped up her efforts, posting frequently to promote her book. However, while her online presence has grown, her physical involvement in Donald Trump’s campaign remains noticeably absent.

Critics have been quick to point out Melania’s lack of participation in her husband’s political efforts. Although she stood by his side when he announced his 2022 presidential bid, she has since been missing from key campaign events, including the recent Republican debates. Her absence has drawn comparisons to Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, who has been actively supporting Vice President Kamala Harris at campaign events.

As Melania continues to promote her memoir and ornament collection, the debate over her role in Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign intensifies, with some questioning whether she will ever return to the campaign trail.
