Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are working to maintain a friendly relationship as they move forward with their divorce, according to a source close to the couple. Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, the duo is focusing on keeping things positive for the sake of their children.

A source told PEOPLE, “Ben and JLo are still moving forward with the divorce as they continue to focus on the kids,” adding, “They both want to stay friendly. There’s still a lot of love.”

Jennifer Lopez reportedly filed for divorce from Affleck on August 20, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. According to insiders, the couple did not have a prenuptial agreement, leaving some financial matters to be resolved.

“The papers also mentioned that Ben and JLo would split attorneys’ fees,” shared another source, who added that the Maid in Manhattan star is seeking to have her last name restored as part of the divorce proceedings.

The couple is working together to ensure the process remains amicable, especially for the children. “They all came together for a fun lunch so the kids could hang out,” noted the insider, emphasizing that the children remain a top priority throughout the divorce.

“A divorce is never easy, and the kids always got along and have fun together,” the source continued, pointing out that both Affleck and Lopez are committed to shielding their children from the challenges of the split. “It makes [Lopez] happy seeing the kids happy together. Happy kids are her priority.”

As they navigate the complexities of their separation, both Affleck and Lopez are focusing on maintaining a cooperative and supportive environment for their family. Despite the end of their marriage, they are committed to showing the kids that their bond as co-parents remains strong.
