Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has embraced the spirit of giving this Christmas season with a thoughtful donation to a German charity. The charity, TrebeCafe, also known as Diakonie Dusseldorf, offers safe, temporary housing to homeless young women and girls.

Marking a continuation of her commitment to support the organization, which she pledged during a European tour with Prince Harry for the Invictus Games, Meghan generously donated 4,600€ (£4,000). Along with the monetary gift, she also presented several boxes of cosmetics to the young women at the shelter, a gesture that resonates deeply with them.

Maria Peixoto, who oversees the operations at TrebeCafe, expressed gratitude, noting the significance of such luxury items like mascara and lipstick, which are often unaffordable for the shelter’s residents. She highlighted the importance of self-care, especially for women who have endured hardships, emphasizing that beautifying oneself is also a form of personal kindness.

In addition to the donation, Meghan, through her Archwell Foundation, sent a pre-Christmas gift and a sincere letter to the TrebeCafe. Her heartfelt words reinforced her belief in the vital role that TrebeCafe plays in supporting at-risk women and girls in Dusseldorf.

Meghan praised the organization’s efforts in providing comfort, friendship, protection, and guidance, which she noted stands in sharp contrast to the difficult realities of their everyday lives. Her message concluded with gratitude for the charity’s dedication to improving the lives of these women and girls.
