Thai Cuisine in Phuket

What’s the best part of working at Luxury Retreats? For many of us, it’s the chance to experience a luxury villa stay! As a Luxury Retreats concierge.

Tanya Waselenak is an expert on creating personalized trips and recently had a chance to plan her own at one of our Phuket villas.

Here a few highlights from Tanya’s vacation at Lomchoy Villa 1.

I was not expecting: “To enjoy the contrasts of Phuket so much: staying in a villa with a private cook, or eating in an international restaurant with breathtaking views vs.

Pad Thai cooked in front of you in Patong for $2.  I loved every minute of both!”

My favorite excursion or experience: “A day trip to Koh Phi Phi (below).”

My best drink discovery: “A couple of nice bottles of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and that the coconut fruit shakes are the same as I remember from my last visit.”

Most memorable moment: “Eating dinner on the side of the pool with an ocean view and looking at the lights from the squid boats on the horizon at night.”

My favorite local treat: “Everything!! Rice paper rolls, larb moo (spicy pork salad), spring rolls, and seafood salad.

It was hard to match the villa cook’s creations anywhere afterwards!”

I was pleasantly surprised by: “How lovely and respectful the people are, and the beaches – wide expanses of fine golden sand that went on for miles. Also, the villa was so much grander than it appears in the photos!”

My travel essentials: “A good book, sunglasses, and a travel journal.”

About the villa: Lomchoy Villa 1

What I loved most about this villa was: “The view, pool, and the entire outside area. You can enjoy the sun, eat outdoors, sit out at night and read, or just look out at the sea.  We really lived in this part of the villa our entire stay.”

My favorite place to sip my morning coffee was: “At the small table, next to the pool.”

I’ll never forget this villa’s: “View and outstanding service, including the villa’s cook and housekeeper, manager (John), and concierge (Juree).”

Something I think guests should know about this villa: “You won’t want to leave! You will also need a car to visit Phuket’s attractions, and a driver can be easily arranged. You can likely find whatever you need within a 10-minute drive.”

I would recommend this villa to: “Families or groups of friends. There is enough space that everyone can spend as much time together or apart as they choose. I would recommend it more for families with older children due to the pool set up, stairs, and the rooms which open directly to the terrace, however they do have custom baby proofing equipment available for families traveling with younger kids.”

A detail that made all the difference: “The extra touches the staff put into the table setting and dinner the night I asked for a surprise birthday cake. Even though the staff are there 24/7, they have their own quarters and kitchen so you don’t see them at all outside of meal time and they are very quiet.  They are always doing whatever they can to take care of your needs and accommodate any requests you might have.”

The best thing about this location is: “Beautiful views over the Andaman Sea.”-luxuryretreats
