Jon Wysocki, the founding member and original drummer of Staind, has died at the age of 53. Wysocki’s band, Lydia’s Castle, announced the sad news in a statement on Instagram.

“On 5/18/2024 at 8:02 pm, @jonwysocki4 passed away surrounded by family and friends who loved him dearly. An official statement will be developed shortly,” read the caption accompanying a photograph of the band members in a huddle. The cause of Wysocki’s death has not yet been disclosed.

Following the announcement, Staind also shared a heartfelt statement on Wysocki’s passing. “We first met Jon through mutual friends in 1994. We came together with Mike, Aaron, and Johnny April in 1995 and founded Staind. The 17 years that followed were some of the best memories of our times together,” the statement read. “From practice in Ludlow, Mass to touring around the world, Jon was integral to who we were as a band. Our hearts go out to Jon’s family and fans around the world who loved him.”

Wysocki played with Staind until 2011 when he was reportedly fired during the recording of the band’s seventh studio album. His departure marked the end of a significant era for the band, as Wysocki had been a crucial part of their formation and success.

Staind, known for their raw and emotional sound, gained widespread popularity in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
