Emma Corrin Reveals Death That “Felt Terrible” in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ New Marvel Role
Emma Corrin recently opened up about feeling “terrible” over a character’s death caused by their villainous alter ego, Cassandra Nova, in their debut role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Deadpool & Wolverine star recalled going “absolutely mad” when their supervillain character killed Chris Evans’ Human Torch following his surprise cameo.
Evans, who last portrayed the Marvel superhero in the 2005 and 2007 Fantastic Four movies, made a brief return to the role only to be swiftly dispatched by Corrin’s character. “I felt so bad when we were in the screening the other day,” Corrin told British GQ. “Because we watched it after the New York premiere with all these fans at Lincoln Center, and everyone was so excited when they saw him appear on screen, and then after three minutes, I’ve killed him.”
Corrin continued, “I felt terrible. I was hiding in my seat. Yeah, it was weird. Not something I thought I’d be doing if you’d asked me a few years ago.”
Despite the mixed feelings about the scene, Corrin praised Marvel for their adept handling of cameos in the box-office hit movie. “That’s something [Marvel] does so well, the cameos,” Corrin remarked. “They give the people what they want. They give them cameos. But they also don’t use them gratuitously. They’re all there for a reason. And I think you really sense that. Or, I hope people sense that because I think they’re used really cleverly.”
Corrin’s reflections highlight the emotional impact of their role and the complexity of playing a supervillain in such a beloved franchise. The actor’s candidness about the experience offers fans a deeper insight into the behind-the-scenes dynamics of bringing these iconic characters to life on screen.
Corrin also shared their excitement about joining the Marvel family and the unexpected turns their career has taken. “It’s surreal to be a part of something this big,” Corrin said. “I’ve always admired the way Marvel integrates their characters and storylines. Being able to step into this world and contribute to it has been an incredible experience.”
The actor’s comments reflect a deep appreciation for the craft and a genuine connection to the fans who cherish these stories. As they navigate their newfound role in the Marvel universe, Corrin remains mindful of the legacy they are now a part of. “I hope I can do justice to the character and the story,” they said. “And I hope the fans can appreciate the journey we’ve taken them on, even with the shocking moments.”
Corrin’s portrayal of Cassandra Nova is set to leave a lasting impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, demonstrating the power of storytelling and the emotional depth that can be achieved, even within the realms of superhero fiction.
